Pet Proof Your House
Make sure to pet proof your house if you want to prevent large vet bills. Many owners are not aware, but simple steps taken in your house and keep your pet safe. Here are some simple pet proofing measures for each room of the house.
Kitchen
In the kitchen make sure pets cannot easily access areas where cleaners are stored beneath the sinks, some dogs are good at opening cabinet doors.
Living Room
Make sure electrical cords are covered or wrapped in aluminum foil. A few dogs will chew on these, and if you have a rabbit as a pet this is a must.
Garage
Make sure chemicals, oils, and anti freezes are stored behind pet proof doors or stored on a high shelf.
Back Yard
Beware of placing rodent bait or insect repellents where your pet could eat them. Many bait contain poisonous chemicals like boric acid which can cause kidney failure.
Bedroom
Make sure you keep small objects off the ground. Dogs like to chew on all sorts of things and can easily swallow them.
All sorts of things have been removed from dog stomachs, like pantyhose, condoms, and underwear.
